    Proceeded straight to approval of minutes due to smaller attendance for the meeting.


    Approval of Minutes


    Minutes were approved. Seale will adjust notes to address spacing issues.


    Website Technical Update


    Governance webpage improvements

    Diaz provided updates on improved governance pages layout. Diaz demonstrated the new layout. Spatafore gave input on the rationale for the webpage updates including accessibility and ease of use. Diaz explained that updates are rolling out to governance pages in phases.


    Tech Plan Update


    Goal 1: Support ubiquitous, agile technology across the campus community

    Objective Implementation Activities
    Promote the consolidation of technology functions to yield economies of scale and/or foster better communication
    Governance page improvements.
     
    Updated to: Assist with the next phase of Canvas trainings

            

    Previously: Assist with the transition of the course management system from Catalyst to Canvas
    Heidi King is still running the Online U cohort. A couple suggestion were updated workshops and continuing to improve training as more cohorts complete both online and hybrid trainings.
    Create a map for technology support
    Cardoza suggested a more proactive approach to informing students about email and Office 365 as resources readily available to them. Spatafore suggested adding information about these resources to the welcome email to students. Spatafore also noted that the Web Team should and will monitor and update the resources page to ensure it’s current.
     

    Goal 2: Teaching, learning and student engagement

    Collaborate with Academic Senate, other partners on the development of open educational resources (OER)
    Revisioning of low-cost/OER process is underway. Mark Healy is working to ensure a complete a list as possible is being compiled with OER.
    Updated to: Assist as affordable and feasible in the organized provision and/or support of instructional technology in classrooms and programs         

           

    Previously: Assist as affordable and feasible in the organized provision of tablets and similar devices in classrooms and programs
    Spatafore reiterated Grey’s update from the last meeting that the Bookstore is carrying more budget-friendly electronics.
     
    Guide the continual growth of course management system functionality to foster meaningful student-instructor and student-to-student communication
    There are plans to be in touch with vendors for text communications. Luciw is working on this process.
    Collaborate with its accessibility expert and Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) to continually evaluate accessibility and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance across the website, learning management system and student information systems
    *Lakshmanan noted that when objectives are updated for the new Tech Plan, Section 508 should be specified after ADA for clarity.
     
    Improve access to student and academic services via technology
    Galoyan announced that Parchment is in the implementation phase with launch set for Feb. 2020.

    Goal 3: Deeper research into student success and subsequent responses

    Collect and analyze data to guide the enrichment of the student experience through technology  
    Research and work to implement device-independent technologies that improve student access and equity  
    Spatafore noted that this objective isn’t necessary in the next iteration of the Tech Plan.
     

    Goal 4: Professional development

    Objective Implementation Activities
    Cultivate a culture in which technology training is understood to be beneficial for all employees.  
    Evaluate technology training needs and priorities.  
    Spatafore stated that this objective will be addressed in upcoming plans for data-gathering through a tech survey.

    Committee members were satisfied with the proposed plan. Spatafore stated that the survey would be directed to faculty and staff. Cardoza expressed that students have asked about access to Adobe Creative Cloud off-campus, off-campus laptop use, etc.


    Standing Updates


    Accessibility

    • Sri is teaching a new transferrable course on accessibility.
      • Titled EDAC 20: Universal Design and Accessibility, the course is designed for all disciplines. It’s hosted through DSPS and students will get to use and experience various types of assistive technology.

       

    Banner Student

    • Galoyan provided updates. Elucian will no longer support Banner 8, so the switch to Banner 9 must be made.
    • There will be patches to the systems later in December for Banner.
    • The process to migrate Self-Service Banner to Banner 9 is also underway. This is a fairly large project.

       

    ETS

    • Luciw provided updates. Deployment of the new print system is set for next week. This should cut printing costs and allow for secure printing.

       

    ETS Project Scheduling

    • There’s a continued refresh of labs that is ongoing.

       

    Online Education Advisory Group

    • Gainer will run another revision of the hybrid delivery form soon to continue to improve.
