Dearest SSH Faculty,
Our 2022 division Retreat Week on Dec. 5-8 will be about highlighting our hard work, building morale and community, celebrating our students, and reflecting on our way forward during the Division Meeting. We plan to highlight signature events, including MOMENTUM, Student Voices, and building relationships with our students through our SSH Guided Pathways Village initiative. We will also partake in the California History Center’s continuous community events, such as their Donor Legacy and Members Recognition Evening scheduled on the last day of our retreat. This is also the same time where we will have our annual Sip & Paint activity – this time in person!
And because this is a "week of pride for SSH," this will be an opportunity to celebrate your work throughout the year and to acknowledge milestones with each other. Our retreat official kickoff will happen during dinner at MOMENTUM with Professor Derrick Felton. which will include acknowledgments, giveaways and free gifts.
You are invited to attend any or all of the events on the schedule below. I hope you enjoy the week and let me know if you have any questions.

Wear your hiking gear and join us for a morning wellness exercise. Our goal to our have some bonding time and get creative with ideas as we spend time together at Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve.
Retreat Kickoff: MOMENTUM with Professor Derrick E. Felton
“Keepin’ It Real”- 4-7 p.m.

This session will be about generational trauma from a personal reflection as it relates to being Black in America. Join us in an intimate conversation with Prof. Derrick Felton. Dinner will be available for this event.

California History Center Donor Legacy and Members Recognition Evening and SSH Division Sip & Paint

Please join the California History Center for their first annual Donor Legacy and Members Recognition Evening and the Social Sciences and Humanities Division’s annual Sip & Paint event. This will be in person. All paint supplies will be available and ready for you to use. We are thankful for Bordin Marsinkul, an accomplished artist, who will be leading the painting portion of the event. Wine are sponsored by House Family Vineyards. Dinner will also be available for all guests. Join us, bring a friend and support our efforts at the California History Center.
