Sunnyvale Community Services

Sunnyvale Community Services mission is to prevent homelessness and hunger in our local community. Volunteer opportunities include packing and sorting groceries, warehouse volunteers, delivery drivers and more.

West Valley Community Services

Program Description: West Valley Community Services unites the community to fight hunger and homelessness. Volunteer opportunities include administration support, help with the food market, front desk support, and online outreach.

Grassroots Ecology

Program Description: Grassroots Ecology engages and educates the public to restore local ecosystems. Volunteer opportunities include community-based habitat restoration and the Youth Stewards program, a cohort of community college environmentalists.

Sacred Heart Race, Equity, and Community Safety Committee

Program Description: Our mission is to reshape community safety through inclusion, rather than exclusion, to advocate for alternatives and policy changes to the police state by organizing for racial justice, to strengthen connections and resources and to create a community where everyone feels safe and accountability is ensured. Volunteer opportunities include helping facilitate listening sessions (with guidance/ instructions), research, and assisting with meetings with city government.

CovEducation

CovEducation, or “CovEd,” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that aims to reverse pandemic-induced learning loss by connecting mentors from higher education institutions with K-12 students affected by school closures. To date, we have connected 6,000+ undergraduates, postgraduates, and educators from 470+ higher education institutions with over 5,500+ mentees across 50 states. Our current programs include individual mentor-mentee matching as well as K-12 partnerships, where we work with K-12 schools serving low-income (typically urban Hispanic/Black, or rural White) communities. National Equal Justice Association

Program Description: National Equal Justice Association (NEJA) is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3), non-profit association which supports grassroots, self-help, community groups of poor and minority workers struggling for social, environmental and equal justice. Volunteer opportunities include community organizing, helping produce, design, or write the newsletter, and networking with other organizations.

Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee

Program Description: Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee was started years ago to build quality and affordable housing so everyone has an opportunity to live and thrive in Santa Clara County. We have been successful in getting the city to develop funds for affordable housing and homelessness prevention. Now we are working on expanding getting free legal representation for people facing eviction! Volunteer opportunities include social media marketing, phone banking, planning orientations, and participating in general meetings.

Ulistac Natural Area Restoration and Education

Program Description: Ulistac Natural Area Restoration and Education restores California native habitat to 40 acres & educates the public about nature. Volunteer opportunities include large scale gardening, education opportunities, and restoring native habitat.

Program Description: Join us to make Single Payer a reality, and bring healthcare to all! Volunteer opportunities include tabling and outreach to family and friends or at events. This can be done on the De Anza campus, or at other events as they come up.

FA-PAC

Program Description: FA-PAC is the political action arm of the De Anza- Foothill Faculty Association. Volunteer tasks include classroom presentations, public comment, engaging in community education and organizing, and outreach to FHDA faculty.

PVI Adult Day Services at Rosener House

Program Description: Our mission is to enable seniors to age in place. Volunteer opportunities include art therapy and caregiving help.

Zooniverse

Zooniverse is a research focused platform. Volunteers can pick from a variety of projects focused on different topics such as arts, climate, history, medicine and so on. Working alongside professional researchers, volunteers will create new discoveries, datasets useful for wider research, and publications. This volunteer opportunity is completely online.
